Job Description:
Prepares products for shipping by preparing and protecting product; building crates.
Job Duties May Include:
Planning/designing crates by looking-up standard specifications; analyzing special product requirements.
Building crates by selecting, measuring, cutting lumber, plastic, or metal using sawing and cutting equipment and hand tools; moving product into place using forklift truck and conveyors.
Protecting products by affixing padding and weatherproofing materials; securing product to pallet and crate; preparing truck or railroad bracing.
Identifying product for shipping by verifying customer delivery information; preparing and affixing address stencil.
Keeping supplies ready by inventorying crating stock; requesting required supplies.
Improving product protection by recommending improved designs; conducting durability tests.
Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
Accomplishing manufacturing and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
